Day one is done...and things are going swimmingly.

Day one of the big paint job is going great. Joel (not our son-in-law, our painter) and his crew showed up right on time just after I got back from the dentist (did I mention I broke a tooth on Friday). They spent the entire day doing prep. Our place is taped, wrapped and getting closer to paint which probably won't happen until sometime late Wednesday or Thursday.

Thankfully Joel said it was okay to leave the blinds up. That's a big deal until later in the week when our current heat wave breaks. If you haven't been in our house before, we face south so that means in the summer we get a bunch of heat on the front of the building. Without shades closed our air conditioner just can't keep up. As it is today, even with the blinds closed, our bedroom is at 78.

We have four walls in the house that are not white. One blue wall in the guestroom, one purple wall in our bedroom, one salmon-colored wall in the nook and one green wall in the dining room. Two of them are not being painted as they have very little wear, the nook and the guest room. But we decided since we are painting the green wall and the purple wall to lighten them a little. Both were pretty dark and could use it. Today the painters did a large swatch of the green on our dining room wall so we could see what the new color would look like and we like it...so far. Let us know what you think in the comments. We take votes and pay no attention to them but it would fun to hear your opinion.

Tomorrow is just one more day of them taping and scraping and sanding and prepping. But things are going well so far.

  2. Well since you aren't paying attention I still like the dark green in there. :)
